The Seven Regions

Michigan’s forensics regions, organized by county for local representation.

Each member school is assigned to a region based on the county of its building, and every region has an IE Representative on the Forensics Council. As of the 2025–26 season, the regional tournament is no longer the qualifier for the State Finals — competitors qualify by competing in qualifying invitationals (see below).

Upper Peninsula

Region 7

The entire Upper Peninsula — Keweenaw, Houghton, Gogebic, Ontonagon, Baraga, Iron, Dickinson, Menominee, Marquette, Alger, Delta, Schoolcraft, Luce, Chippewa, and Mackinac counties.

Qualifying for State Finals (2025–26)

Beginning with the 2025–26 season, the regional tournament is no longer the qualifier. To qualify for the State tournament, a competitor must compete in at least two qualifying invitationals (three or more rounds, on a single day, with at least two schools), in all rounds, and in the event they intend to enter at State in at least one of them.

Two invitationals

Compete in all rounds at each; one must include your event.

Coaches register

Coaches verify eligibility and register up to two entries per event for State.

Last-chance paths

A last-chance in-person tournament and an asynchronous video event also qualify. Special-circumstance bids apply.

Pre-bids are retired for the 2025–26 season. Seeding for State is under review by the committee.
