Electing the board

Held at the General Membership Meeting in the Capital Club at the Grand Hotel. You can vote in the room, by proxy, or absentee — and you do not have to be on the island to do it.

Nominate someone

Nominations close at 11:59 pm on the Wednesday following MIFA IE State Finals. After that you may still nominate from the floor at the meeting itself.

How long each seat runs

President ElectThe three years are President Elect, then President, then Past President — which is why all three sit on the board at once.	3 years

Voting

Three ways to vote

You must be a member in good standing. Each route closes at a different time on the day, so the deadline matters more than the method.

In person

By Friday, May 14, 2027

Cast your vote at the annual membership meeting in the Capital Club at the Grand Hotel.

By proxy

By 3:00 pm, Friday, May 14, 2027

Notify the election officer in writing that you are giving your proxy to someone attending — by email, or by sending a written proxy with them. They must be a member in good standing. First-time members may not vote by proxy.

By absentee ballot

By Noon, Friday, May 14, 2027

Request a ballot once the slate is set and you will be emailed a unique link. Absentee ballots are not anonymous.

Items for discussion and voting at the May meeting must be submitted in advance, by the same Wednesday deadline as nominations. Submit a New Business Item.

That form sits on a legacy Google short link and Google has retired the shortener for most addresses. If it does not open, email michiganspeechcoachesinc@gmail.com and send your item that way — the deadline still holds.
