Eight steps
- 1Scan the QR code on your folder with your phone camera.
- 2Type the code printed on the folder.
- 3Say who you are. If it shows your name, tap “Yes, I’m …”. If not, tap “No — someone else is judging” and enter your name and email.
- 4Watch every speaker. Write at least 3 points for each one as you go, and note their time. Give time signals if the speaker wants them (cards or fingers).
- 5When everyone has gone, rank. Tap speakers in order: 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Everyone else is 4th.
- 6Score. 1st is 100. Everyone else 80–99, each number once. 75–79 only for misconduct: tick the misconduct box first.
- 7Reason for rank. One line about how you ranked the room.
- 8Sign and submit. Type your name, press Submit, and confirm each speaker when the ballot reads them back.
If you’re stuck
“Round hasn’t started yet”
Wait for the round to be posted, then press Continue again.
Code doesn’t match
Check the code on the folder and try again.
A speaker hasn’t shown up
They may be in another event first. Hear everyone else, then wait a few minutes. Still missing? Tell the tab room before you submit.
No signal
Keep writing; your ballot saves on your phone. Submit when you have signal.
Phone died
Take the folder to the tab room. They’ll take your ranks on paper.
Lost your place
Scan the folder again and type the code. Your work is saved.
Folder already claimed or not active
Go to the tab room.
- “Round hasn’t started yet”
- Wait for the round to be posted, then press Continue again.
- Code doesn’t match
- Check the code on the folder and try again.
- A speaker hasn’t shown up
- They may be in another event first. Hear everyone else, then wait a few minutes. Still missing? Tell the tab room before you submit.
- No signal
- Keep writing; your ballot saves on your phone. Submit when you have signal.
- Phone died
- Take the folder to the tab room. They’ll take your ranks on paper.
- Lost your place
- Scan the folder again and type the code. Your work is saved.

- Go to the tab room.
In the room
- Don’t tell speakers their rank or score.
- Don’t discuss the round with anyone.
- Return the folder to the tab room when you’re done.
