Competing on your own

If your school has no speech squad this season, you can still compete. You enter meets yourself, for your school.

For students and parents

Who can

Any student 13 or older whose school hasn’t registered for a tournament this season. Your results count for your school, the same as a teammate’s would.

If your school has registered, ask your coach to add you. When you pick your school, the site shows you who the head coach is and can send them a note for you.

How to sign up

  1. Make an account and choose “I compete”.

  2. Pick your school, then “My school doesn’t have a team”.

  3. Say who will be with you on the day.

  4. Open Meets in your account and enter the events you want.

The grown-up on the day

Every meet asks who will be with you: usually a parent, sometimes the host at a college meet. They’re added as your family member, so they can follow your rooms, and the tab room has their phone if something comes up.

What it costs

Each meet decides. Many are free for students on their own; some charge at check-in, and some charge the normal entry fee. You never owe judges.

On the day

When you arrive, open your account and press I’m here. Your rooms show there once the meet posts them. Your judges’ feedback comes straight to you when the results are released.

Questions

What if my school starts a team?

You join it automatically the moment your school registers for a meet, and your upcoming entries go with you. Results you already earned stay yours.

Can I do a duo or a group event?

Yes, as long as every partner is from your school. Invite them from the meet in your account.
