In-person tournaments triumphantly return at Novice State

After a two year hiatus, the halls were once again alive with the sounds of students talking to walls, rushing to rounds, and screaming with excitement for breaking to finals. The 2022 MSCI Novice State and Open Tournament was one of the first in-person tournaments since the start of the 2020 pandemic. It was held once again at Novi High School with a complete slate of events. A possible sign that the past two years under Covid issues definitely made an indelible mark on speech activities was the influx of novice competitors. The Novice State tournament hosted approximately 160 students with the open tournament hosting approximately 130 from 25 schools. Throughout the entire event, it was evident that everyone - students, judges, and coaches alike - were excited to once again experience the pomp and circumstance that makes forensic events unique.
